Silk is a breathable fabric as the fibres allow air to flow through. This means that it helps you to stay cool in the summer. However, don’t be fooled, silk also helps to regulate temperature, making it a brilliant insulator too, meaning that you will stay warm in the colder weathers as well.
Hair can benefit from a silk bonnet. Due to the smooth surface of the silk, there is less friction than your average hair wrap, or from laying your head directly onto a cotton pillowcase, so you’re less likely to wake up with frizzy ‘bed head’. This also helps to preserve your hairstyles, saving you time on your morning beauty routine.
Silk is less absorbent than cotton, so any creams or lotions that you put on your hair will stay where you put it, rather than being soaked up by your pillowcase, meaning you can reap their benefits to their entirety.
Our bonnets are made from 19 momme grade 6A Mulberry silk. The tie is 1% elastance. Being a 19 momme silk means that it is less dense and therefore lighter than our silk bedding. This provides a weightless and therefore more comfortable feel when you are wearing it at night. Grade 6A means that it is the highest quality silk with both ‘6’ and ‘A’ being the highest on their respective scales.

We always recommend hand washing our silk products, but it can also be machine washed at 30 degrees celsius or lower on a delicate cycle. For small items, use a fine mesh washing bag, and always use washing liquid and fabric conditioner made specifically for silk, to maintain its beautiful lustre. Make sure to line dry the silk bedding as it is not suitable for tumble drying.
