Silk is a breathable fabric as the fibres allow air to flow through. This means that it helps you to stay cool in the summer. However, don’t be fooled, silk also helps to regulate temperature, making it a brilliant insulator too, meaning that you will stay warm in the colder weathers as well.
Hair and skin can also benefit from silk fitted sheets. Due to the smooth surface of the silk, there is less friction than on your average cotton sheet, so there is less tugging on your skin while you sleep, which can cause wrinkles, and you’re less likely to wake up with frizzy ‘bed head’.
Silk is less absorbent than cotton, so any creams or lotions that you put on your hair or skin will stay where you put it, rather than being soaked up by your sheet, meaning you can reap their benefits to their entirety.
