Why Silk Bedding Won't Slide Off Your Bed

Silk bedding is sometimes thought to be too slippery to use every night.

Because silk has such a smooth surface, people often worry that sheets will slide off the bed or that the duvet will not stay in place.

In reality, high quality silk bedding is designed to stay secure when it is properly fitted.

The weight of the silk, the sizing of the sheets, and the construction of the duvet cover all play a role in keeping everything in place.

With the right bedding and the correct fit, silk sheets can be just as practical as cotton, while offering the added comfort and luxury silk is known for.

High-Quality Silk

High-Quality Silk bedding often has a specific weight and weave that further enhances its stability.

The momme of the silk—the unit of measurement used for the weight of the silk—is an important factor.

Our silk bedding is all 25 momme.

Silk beddings with a higher momme weight tend to be denser and less prone to sliding.

Additionally, the weave pattern of silk sheets is designed to optimise both comfort and grip, ensuring they stay in place.

Proper Sizing and Tight Fitting

Make sure your silk sheets are the right size for your bed. We currently stock UK Double, King Size and Super King Size.

Our fitted silk sheets have a depts of 35cm and are fully elasticated to help the stay in place.

The silk duvet covers have eight internal ties to keep the duvet in place all night long.

Elasticated fitted sheets help keep everything secure

A well-made fitted sheet is one of the most important factors in preventing silk bedding from moving.

Deep fitted sheets with strong elastic around the edges help keep the sheet firmly in place, even if you move a lot during the night.

Our silk fitted sheets are designed with deep corners and elasticated edges to fit securely around the mattress, helping to prevent slipping or bunching.

When the sheet fits properly, silk bedding stays smooth without shifting around.

Duvet ties keep the duvet in place

Another concern people have with silk bedding is that the duvet may move inside the cover.

High quality silk duvet covers are designed with internal ties which attach to the duvet and keep it positioned correctly.

This helps prevent the duvet from sliding to one side and keeps the bedding looking neat and comfortable throughout the night.

Using a correctly sized duvet with the cover also helps everything stay in place.

Weighted Duvet

Use a heavier duvet or comforter on top of your silk duvet cover.

The additional weight can help hold the duvet in place, especially during movement.

Silk is smooth, not uncontrollable

Silk does feel smoother than cotton, but this does not mean it will slide off the bed.

Higher momme silk is slightly heavier and more stable, which helps the fabric stay where it should.

Good quality silk bedding is designed for everyday use, and when fitted correctly it stays secure while still giving the soft, luxurious feel silk is known for.

For most people, the idea that silk bedding slides everywhere is a myth, especially when using high quality mulberry silk sheets

People have a tendency to overdramatise the image of the sliding about in silk sheets. Writing from experience, you’re not going to wake up in a pile on the floor.

I’ve had three dogs push me to the side of my silk duvet and bed sheet and we’ve all woken up in situ in the morning. Honestly, you’ll be fine.
